Job Title: Business Analyst
Location: Middletown, CT – Hybrid
Specific Services Required
- Research, write, edit, and proofread technical and functional documentation
- Provide Business Analyst services:
- Gather and analyze business requirements related to criminal history system
- Conduct interviews and workshops with stakeholders to understand their needs and challenges
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend solutions
- Assist in the development of plans for future system enhancements
- Perform Technical Writing tasks:
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and vendor teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive requirements documentation
- Organize and present complex technical information in a user-friendly manner
- Review and edit documents for clarity, consistency, and compliance with established standards
- Problem Resolution:
- Collect and analyze data from various sources, such as existing internal and external systems and subject matter expert feedback
- Identify gaps, challenges, and potential risks in the current processes and systems.
- Document Issues, findings, and recommendations
- Communicate with project stakeholders, addressing questions or concerns
- Foster collaboration and communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including vendor providers, IT professionals, system users and external agencies
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Initiate and participate in meetings, workshops, and presentations to gather information and report issues
- Meet all assigned responsibilities on time and in full
- Develop and maintain trusting stakeholder relationships across operations, business and agency stakeholders
- Represents with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public
Required Skills/Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in technology, supply chain management, business, criminal justice or a closely related field; AND minimum five (5) years of professional-level experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience in public safety or public sector
- Experience with the state and federal CJIS Security compliance requirements
- Experience in criminal justice information systems projects
- Experience in the Business Analysis domain
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word
- Demonstrated experience in writing and organizing technical and functional documents
- Possess a growth mindset and show initiative in work assignments
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Information Systems or equivalent
- Experience with Atlassian JIRA or equivalent
- SQL/RDMS experience
- Familiarity with formal specifications methods such as object-oriented analysis and specification
