Position Responsibilities
- Drive excellence in all areas of operations by focusing on People, Quality, Service, Financials, and Growth. Define and track key performance measures, monitor progress, and consistently deliver results.
- Provide data analysis regarding clinical operations, productivity metrics, financial metrics, and strategic benchmarks to ensure operational, financial and strategic initiatives are being achieved.
- Provide robust external analysis regarding healthcare consumption across the state and across sites of care (hospitals, surgery centers, physician offices)
- Assist in maintaining the data sources and reporting of select information: hospital association encounter data, claims data, referrals.
- Interact and collaborate with the senior levels of an organization and work collaboratively across functions, levels and departments toward shared objectives.
- Work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical and administrative staff to integrate resources.
- Research a variety of health-related topics and distill the key messages in preparation for presentations.
- Understand organizational policies and procedures necessary to ensure appropriate decision-making protocols are followed.
- Recommend or may develop strategic plan for the program. Implement strategic plan. Develop strategy for budget priorities.
- Determine communication strategy to promote specific programs or initiatives. Present to professional groups. Develop educational programs related to specific projects or initiatives.
- Manage multiple deadlines and prioritize project work.
- Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 1-3 years of work experience in Health Care Management or Administration
- Comprehensive knowledge of complex health care systems including state and federal policy and statutory framework required
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
- Experience structuring and delivering strategic and financial analysis required
- Proficiency in common software applications required (i.e., MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word)
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.
- Be able to adapt quickly to changing demands and feel comfortable performing amidst complex and ambiguous tasks
- Knowledge of academic medical center organization structure and operations
- Knowledge of University of Iowa Health Care policies and procedures
- Proven success in problem solving, instilling accountability, and driving results in teams
- Understanding of key strategic and operational metrics as well as common benchmarks
- General understanding of the Electronic Health Record and familiarity with EPIC
- Experience and/or certifications for common analytical platforms (e.g.,Tableau)
- Reliable and dependable with strong consensus building skills and a track record of successfully partnering with a variety of constituencies
