This is a hybrid-based position in our Syracuse, NY office. U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

We are looking for a hands-on Analyst with strong SQL, VBA, and .NET skills who can turn business performance data into reliable, actionable reporting. The role requires intermediate SQL query expertise (temporary tables, indexes, joins, expressions) and practical experience with SQL Server, SSMS, Stored Procedures and Table-Valued Functions.
Your new role
Ramboll is seeking a Business Intelligence & Analytics Specialist for an open position in our Syracuse office. The ideal candidate will be working in a challenging and dynamic environment that will include a detail-oriented team and independent work.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- SQL Data Sourcing
- Extract data from corporate databases.
- Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Translate complex business requirements from Client, Sales, and Operations teams into actionable KPIs and metrics.
- Design, build, and deploy interactive dashboards that empower leadership to make data-driven decisions.
- Optimize and support Legacy Applications
- Maintain and make functional enhancements to existing Excel-based project management tools utilizing VBA.
- Proactively identify opportunities to migrate legacy, manual spreadsheets into automated, centralized BI solutions.
- Document tool architecture and logic to ensure business continuity and straightforward system updates.
- AI-Driven Process Improvement
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify operational bottlenecks and manual workflows.
- Research, test, and implement emerging AI tools to streamline day-to-day operations.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5 years of relevant experience
- Intermediate SQL Server skills (temporary tables, indexes, joins, expressions)
- Proficiency with SSMS and familiarity with Stored Procedures and Table-Valued Functions
- Intermediate experience with Visual Studio 2022 or newer. Working knowledge of VB.Net and ability to edit, compile and distribute existing .NET applications
- Experience with VBA (Excel and MS Access) for reporting/automation
- Understanding of business practices for project costs and revenue, plus basic knowledge of financial and project management systems
- Demonstrated experience or eagerness to become fluent in BI reporting
- Understanding of AI prompt engineering and development of AI-enabled applications
- Familiarity with Remote Desktop and basic server app management
- Comfort navigating large networks and related infrastructure constraints
