Senior Business Analyst (Data Platform)

Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join its Enterprise Data Platform organization. This individual will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and the Data Engineering team by translating business processes into data requirements, documenting enterprise applications, and ensuring data products accurately reflect business operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys understanding how applications function, solving complex data problems, and partnering closely with both technical and business teams.

The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, understands modern data platforms, and has experience working with data mapping, data modeling, and enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand business processes, workflows, and reporting requirements.
• Document enterprise applications, business processes, and system functionality across multiple domains.
• Translate business requirements into technical data requirements for Data Engineering teams.
• Create and maintain data mappings, source-to-target documentation, and business process documentation.
• Work alongside Data Engineers to validate data quality and troubleshoot discrepancies between source systems and reporting platforms.
• Identify source systems of record and ensure data accurately reflects business operations.
• Support data modeling initiatives by documenting business rules and relationships.
• Analyze existing data pipelines and recommend process improvements.
• Assist with documenting enterprise data assets as part of ongoing data platform modernization initiatives.
• Serve as the liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Participate in data validation, testing, and user acceptance activities.
• Build domain expertise across multiple enterprise applications and business functions.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role.
• Experience working with enterprise data platforms or Data Engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and data concepts.
• Ability to read and understand SQL queries (advanced query writing not required).
• Experience with:
• Data mapping
• Source-to-target mapping
• Data lineage
• Data validation
• Data modeling concepts
• Excellent documentation and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience gathering and translating business requirements into technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise Data Platform or Data Engineering organizations.
• Experience within travel, hospitality, cruise, or transportation industries.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar).
• Experience supporting enterprise application modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
