About the Job

The team that owns the foundational infrastructure of one of the world's best-performing fully systematic quantitative trading firms is hiring. This is infrastructure engineering at the highest stakes environment in finance, where the systems you build sit directly beneath hundreds of billions of dollars of trading activity running around the clock across global markets.

The Role

This is a hands-on infrastructure engineering position for someone who builds and owns production systems rather than operating them. You'd be joining the Operations team within Core Engineering - the group responsible for the reliability, performance, and automation of the firm's foundational infrastructure.

  • Own end-to-end delivery of infrastructure improvements across compute, storage, Kubernetes platform, and database layers
  • Build observability and automation tooling that reduces operational toil across the fleet
  • Contribute to architectural decisions on reliability and performance at firm-wide scale
  • Work directly with engineers across Core's eight sub-teams including Networking, Database, Kafka Platform, Security, and AI Platform.
  • Participate in on-call rotations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience as an infrastructure-focused software engineer
  • Strong programming skills - Python is the primary language for this role and ideally your strongest, though strong engineers in Go, Java, or C++ are also considered
  • Genuine depth in at least one of: distributed storage systems, database reliability engineering, Kubernetes platform ownership, or observability infrastructure
  • Proficiency with observability tooling - Grafana, Prometheus, or similar
  • Experience with configuration management and automation - Ansible or equivalent
  • Comfort with Linux at the system level
  • Builder mentality with strong systems thinking - someone who solves problems by writing code and thinks carefully about how the pieces fit together

Preferred Skills (not required)

  • Experience with bare metal infrastructure and low-level Linux systems engineering
  • Kafka or distributed messaging infrastructure depth
  • eBPF or Linux kernel experience
  • Database reliability engineering - Postgres, MySQL, or similar
  • Prior experience in financial services or a latency-sensitive production environment
  • Open-source contributions to infrastructure or observability tooling

Benefits

  • Compensation is among the most competitive in the industry for this type of role
  • Best-in-class medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • 24/7 concierge healthcare with dedicated support for you and your dependents
  • Generous vacation and paid holidays
  • Paid parental leave plus fertility and adoption support
  • Catered breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily
  • No-cost mental health coaching and therapy
  • Monthly fitness and wellness benefits

Pre-Application:

  • Please do not apply if you are looking for a contract or remote work
  • You must be eligible to live and work in the US, without requiring sponsorship
  • Please ensure you meet the required experience section prior to applying
  • Allow 1-5 working days for a response to any job enquiry
