Indexed description

This is a founding engineering role sitting at the intersection of GPU infrastructure and financial market technology. You'll own the technical backbone of the company's compute business: building the abstraction layer that homogenizes GPU capacity from multiple providers into a unified interface, and building the control-plane systems that let customers provision, manage, and pay for clusters. The role reports directly to the founders and works alongside a small team of engineers with backgrounds from major cloud and hardware companies. There is no existing playbook — this person defines how the compute infrastructure is built.

Details

  • Location: New York City, NY
  • In-person
  • Employment: Full-time
  • Experience: 3+ years
  • Equity: Competitive equity (0.50% - 1.00%)
  • Schedule: Startup hours, Monday through Friday, 9am to 9pm ("995") – IMPORTANT!!!!
  • Visa & work authorization: None available; must be a US citizen or permanent resident

About The Company

A seed-stage company building a regulated derivatives exchange to trade GPU compute, positioning itself on the same regulatory footing as licensed futures exchanges like the CME. The company buys GPU hours from neoclouds and resells them to startups in its network, while building the software infrastructure to make compute procurement programmable and liquid. A six-person team with CFTC futures exchange licensing in process.

What You'll Own

  • Design and build the customer-facing compute API for provisioning and managing GPU clusters across multiple neocloud providers
  • Build the abstraction layer that normalizes fragmented GPU capacity from different providers into a unified resource model
  • Own control-plane systems for cluster orchestration, lifecycle management, and state tracking
  • Integrate with GPU providers and neoclouds through APIs, Kubernetes, Slurm, and bare-metal and semi-automated workflows
  • Build internal tooling to replace manual brokerage workflows with repeatable, scalable software systems
  • Develop metering and usage-tracking infrastructure for GPU-hours and customer billing

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience with low-level GPU infrastructure: kernels, Slurm, Kubernetes, and GPU provisioning workflows, ideally at a neocloud (CoreWeave, Lambda, or similar) or equivalent environment
  • Strong backend or platform engineering fundamentals: APIs, distributed systems, and production-quality code in Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript
  • 3+ years of backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering experience in a production environment
  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • Based in or willing to relocate to New York, NY, in-person with the team
  • Willingness to work the stated schedule: Monday through Friday, 9am to 9pm

Nice to have

  • Experience at a high-frequency trading firm (SIG, Optiver, or similar) — strong signal for systems discipline and performance-oriented engineering
  • Background at a major tech company (Meta, NVIDIA, AWS, or comparable) with evidence of high-velocity production ownership
  • Experience with HFT or exchange-grade matching engine and order book systems
  • Familiarity with billing, metering, or usage-based pricing infrastructure
  • Experience with multi-tenant infrastructure platforms or developer-facing API products
