About ThingsX

ThingsX is a US-based leading innovator in the Internet of Things (IoT) industry, developing and scaling industry-specific IoT solutions—from PC IoT and cold chain for food and beverage to advanced tracking and monitoring systems—on the AWS Cloud platform. Our team harnesses real-time data from smart sensors and intelligent platforms to enhance efficiency, deliver actionable insights, and unlock new growth opportunities for clients. We leverage IoT to meet specific industry needs, empowering customers with cutting-edge technology and scalable solutions.

With a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and convenience, ThingsX designs solutions that use real-time data to enable automation, monitoring, and insights across industries. Our team collaborates closely with clients to address unique challenges and opportunities, ensuring each solution is tailored to their needs. On the platform side, we operate production workloads on AWS (including Amazon EKS) with high expectations for reliability, security, observability, and safe change management.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own and evolve the infrastructure, CI/CD, and operational platform that powers ThingsX production services. This role requires deep cloud/DevOps expertise and mandatory, day-to-day proficiency with modern AI assistants (including Anthropic Claude / Opus and comparable frontier models) for infrastructure work, incident analysis, automation, reviews, and agent-assisted operational workflows.

Reports to: Manager, DevOps

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate AWS infrastructure supporting ThingsX production and staging environments, with emphasis on Amazon EKS / Kubernetes.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent) for reliable, auditable application and infrastructure delivery.
  • Own Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent) for repeatable, reviewed infrastructure changes.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Amazon CloudWatch.
  • Support networking, TLS/certificate operations, secrets handling, and secure platform baselines in partnership with Engineering and Security stakeholders.
  • Lead or contribute to production incident response, post-incident reviews, capacity planning, and reliability improvements—including hands-on troubleshooting across AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, storage, and identity management.
  • Use AI coding/ops assistants (Claude / Opus and equivalent models) daily for runbook automation, infrastructure code, pipeline troubleshooting, log/metric analysis, change review, and multi-step agent workflows—while remaining accountable for correctness, security, and production safety.
  • Partner with backend engineering on deployment strategies, environment parity, and operational readiness for new services.
  • Document platform standards and mentor the team on effective AI-assisted DevOps practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 5+ years of professional DevOps, SRE, or cloud platform engineering experience (or equivalent senior-level track record).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting production issues across AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, storage, and identity management.
  • Production experience with Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS.
  • Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines for microservices.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, load balancing, DNS, TLS/certificates, and secure cloud configuration.
  • Comfort supporting Linux-based systems and containerized workloads in production.
  • Mandatory AI proficiency: demonstrated, current daily use of Claude and/or Opus (or equivalent frontier models) in professional DevOps/platform work—including automation, infrastructure-as-code, debugging, reviews, and agent-style operational tasks. Candidates should be able to describe concrete workflows they use today, not only general interest in AI.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively in a hybrid Taiwan-based organization.
  • Ability to work on-site in Taiwan three days per week and remotely two days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating platforms that include MQTT, IoT gateways, or high-availability messaging infrastructure.
  • Experience with GitOps (Argo CD / Flux), service mesh, or progressive delivery.
  • Familiarity with AWS Bedrock or other enterprise LLM hosting used in engineering/ops workflows.
  • Security hardening experience (IAM least privilege, secret management, vulnerability scanning in CI).
  • Prior ownership of SLOs, on-call rotations, or major reliability programs.

Location & Work Arrangement

Taiwan · Hybrid · Three (3) days per week in office · Two (2) days per week remote · Full-time employee.

How to Apply

Please apply via LinkedIn with your resume and a brief note describing (1) your most relevant AWS/EKS production experience and (2) how you currently use Claude/Opus (or equivalent) in day-to-day DevOps work.
