MONITORING & OBSERVABILITY ENGINEER | KIEL | 24-Month Secure AUG Engagement — Up to €100,000 p.a. — 60% Home Office

THE ROLE

Most observability roles put you in the position of maintaining dashboards someone else built, on data nobody fully trusts. This one is different: you will own a Grafana-based KPI monitoring environment used to drive real operational decisions — and lead its migration onto a Kubernetes platform from the ground up. The environment is live, business-critical, and yours to develop. If you want genuine ownership of monitoring infrastructure in a technically serious organisation, this is it.

YOU WILL

• Take ownership of the Grafana-based KPI monitoring environment — administering, developing and continuously improving the system used to visualise business-critical and operational data

• Lead and support the migration of the existing Grafana solution onto a new Kubernetes-based platform, ensuring continuity of monitoring services throughout the transition

• Analyse existing dashboards, migrate them to the new environment, and improve usability, performance and clarity of insight

• Connect and maintain relevant data sources — ensuring reliable and performant delivery of KPI data into the monitoring environment

• Work closely with business units, development teams and platform operations to gather and implement monitoring, visualisation and reporting requirements

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Information Technology or a comparable technical discipline

• Hands-on Grafana experience — real administration and operation of the platform, not just viewing pre-built dashboards; you have owned a Grafana environment in a professional context

• Docker and Kubernetes — practical working knowledge of container technologies; Kubernetes experience is essential given the platform migration scope

• Monitoring stack depth — practical experience with Prometheus, Loki, InfluxDB, Elasticsearch or comparable metrics and logging systems

• KPI dashboard experience — connecting, structuring and visualising operational and business KPI data for both technical and business stakeholders

• German — C1 or above, written and spoken. Hard requirement.

• English — professional working proficiency

• EU or NATO member state citizenship — country of birth applies; naturalisation alone does not satisfy this requirement

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Infrastructure as Code experience — Helm, Terraform or comparable tooling

• CI/CD pipeline experience — GitLab CI/CD, Helm or Terraform for deployment and pipeline automation
