Job Summary:

PRODUCT OWNER - ARTIFAX SOFTWARE
Remote (UK) | Full Time

Job Description:

Do you get real satisfaction from turning ambiguous problems into clear, well-specified work and enjoy working across engineering, design and customer research to get there? If this sounds like your world, read on.

Artifax is seeking an analytical, customer-focused Product Owner to join our Product team. This role sits at the intersection of customer insight, business strategy, and delivery, translating the strategy for our B2B and internal software applications into actionable work that our cross-functional engineering teams can execute with pace and quality.

Working closely with engineers and stakeholders across the business, you will ensure our backlog is clear, prioritised, and aligned to strategic goals - while leading discovery and validation activities that keep our product decisions grounded in genuine customer need.

Your curiosity about AI, the arts and cultural sector, and your comfort working at the edge of product and engineering, is what sets you apart here, Artifax knowledge we can teach.

What you'll be doing

  • Breaking epics down into clearly defined, well-specified issues for new features, improvements, and defects
  • Prioritising and refining the backlog, and managing hotfixes in response to emerging business needs
  • Working with the Head of Customer Experience to understand requirements, sketch wireframes, and devise solutions
  • Using AI tools to analyse customer data, usage patterns, and feedback to inform prioritisation
  • Creating functional prototypes or low-fidelity representations to validate ideas before development begins
  • Defining business rules, system logic, and edge case handling, so engineers have clear intent and unambiguous acceptance boundaries
  • Attending and contributing actively to team ceremonies - stand-up, refinement, planning, and review
  • Working day-to-day with engineers, resolving ambiguity as implementation reveals complexity, and acting as the decision point on scope and trade-offs
  • Conducting structured customer interviews and observing customers using the product in their own environment
  • Writing clear release notes and Help Centre articles for new and improved features

What you'll bring

  • Demonstrable experience as a Product Owner, Project Manager, Business Analyst, or in a customer-facing product role
  • Experience writing structured functional specifications - business rules, edge cases, and acceptance criteria - ideally alongside engineering teams
  • A track record of conducting customer research and translating findings into product decisions
  • Experience writing help articles, release notes, or equivalent documentation
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar product management tooling
  • Genuine curiosity about using AI tools to support analysis, synthesis, and product discovery
  • Experience creating wireframes or low-fidelity prototypes

Why join Artifax?

You'll be part of a supportive, cross-functional team shaping software used by arts and cultural organisations of all sizes. The role offers autonomy, variety, and the chance to work on meaningful features that help venues, festivals, and arts organisations operate more effectively.

Who we are

Artifax Software builds industry-leading venue and event management solutions for the arts and cultural community. We are part of the Volaris Group, which provides the financial stability and investment in people that the sector itself often cannot always offer. You will do meaningful work, grow through coaching and structured product training, and enjoy enhanced time-off and wellbeing benefits – all within a culture that listens and evolves through feedback.

If you're excited about turning customer insight into great software and about working at the intersection of customer insights and engineering, we'd love to hear from you!

Please note that this is a UK-based role, so applicants must be resident in the UK and have the right to live and work in this country.

Artifax reserves the right to close applications for this role at any time, depending on the volume of applications received, so please apply without delay.
