Product Manager
Indexed description
Bayse is building Africa’s largest prediction market & derivatives exchange, an ecosystem where people can trade on outcomes across real-world events. We’re product-led and data-driven, and we’re building an instrument that helps people get ahead by turning insight into action. We care deeply about trust, speed, and clarity, because we’re building a platform people will rely on daily.
Our vision is simple: build a platform that lets anyone trade the outcomes of future events across stocks, entertainment, culture, sports, politics, and anything else people care about. Think of the stock market, but for things you can actually relate to. Prediction markets are a new derivatives financial primitive and an emerging asset class, and we believe the most important use cases are still early.
Globally, platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi are proving what’s possible, and we’re excited to build at the forefront of this innovation in Africa. We’ve already acquired 300k+ users, built the platform while bootstrapped, and are now backed by Africa's leading investors.
We're hiring a Senior Product Manager to own a core surface of the Bayse platform end-to-end, from the trading and markets experience users touch every day to the settlement, liquidity, and compliance mechanics underneath. You'll set direction for your area, make sharp prioritization calls against real constraints (regulatory, liquidity, engineering), and ship. This is a builder's PM role: closer to the mechanics of the product than to slide decks.
We're on a path from hundreds of thousands of users to millions of active users, and we're doing it in a category that's still being invented. This role sits at the center of both: scaling what works, and figuring out what prediction markets should look like next for a mainstream African audience.
You'll work directly with engineering, design, trading/quant, and operations, and you'll be measured on outcomes such as volume, liquidity depth, retention, and trust, rather than on output.
- Own the roadmap for your area of the Bayse product, from problem discovery through launch and iteration. You decide what gets built, in what order, and why.
- Write the specs. Turn ambiguous problems into clear, detailed specs and decision docs that engineering and design can execute against without second-guessing.
- Run discovery. Talk to users regularly, across active traders, casual participants, and market makers, dig into the data, and turn what you learn into a prioritized backlog.
- Ship with engineering and design. Work alongside them day-to-day to break down work, unblock delivery, and make sharp trade-off calls against liquidity, regulatory, and technical constraints.
- Own your metrics. Define what success looks like for your area, such as volume, liquidity depth, retention, and conversion, instrument it properly, and run experiments to move the numbers.
- Get the mechanics right. Partner with trading/quant, operations, and compliance so what you ship holds up on pricing, settlement, KYC, and risk, not just on the happy path.
- Push the category forward. Prediction markets are still being defined. You'll invent new market types, mechanics, and experiences that don't exist yet, and set the bar for what the product can be rather than copying what's out there.
- Build for scale. Own product levers on our path to a million+ active users, including activation, retention, and the flywheel between liquidity and engagement, designing for a mainstream audience new to markets rather than only power users.
- Go-to-market: Understand the intricacies of taking a product to the right audience, growing its adoption, and owning metrics of what success looks like.
- Land launches cleanly. Coordinate across ops, compliance, and marketing so features reach users without surprises.
- 5+ years in product management, including senior ownership of a complex product area, ideally at a fintech, trading, crypto/Web3, marketplace, or other high-stakes consumer platform.
- Fluency with the domain. You understand order books, spreads, liquidity, and settlement, or you learn technical systems fast enough to earn the trust of engineers and quants. Comfort with prediction markets, derivatives, exchanges, or betting/gaming products is a strong plus.
- Strong quantitative instincts. You're comfortable in the data, can reason about unit economics and market health, and make decisions from evidence rather than opinion.
- A builder's mindset. You go deep on the mechanics, prototype your thinking, and ship. You're energized by ambiguity and constraint, and by defining a product category rather than following one.
- A track record of scale. You've grown a consumer product through a step-change in users, ideally toward or past the million-active mark, and understand the activation, retention, and infrastructure realities that come with it.
- Excellent judgment under pressure. You can balance user trust, liquidity, compliance, and speed, and stay calm when they're in tension.
- Clear written and verbal communication across engineering, design, trading, ops, and leadership.
- High ownership and low ego. You do what the outcome requires.
- Experience with regulated financial products, exchanges, or payments in emerging markets.
- Familiarity with crypto rails, stablecoins, or multi-currency settlement.
- Exposure to matching engines, clearing/settlement systems, or margin mechanics.
- Experience building for mobile-first African or emerging-market audiences.
- A background that lets you go toe-to-toe with quant and engineering teams (technical, quantitative, or trading experience).
- Own a meaningful surface of a platform used by hundreds of thousands of people, in a category that's still being defined.
- Work on genuinely hard problems across market microstructure, liquidity, and multi-currency settlement, with a team that ships.
- Direct access to founders and a real seat at the table on strategy.
- ₦800k - ₦1.2M Total compensation
- Hybrid 3 days/week at the office
- Other benefits like health, launch, transport, etc.
