About Avici
Avici is building a global financial account powered by stablecoins. Our product brings together mobile apps, wallets, cards, accounts and financial partners into one simple experience.
Avici has reached over $75 million in annualized volume and more than 120,000 signups globally.
People in over 120+ countries trust us with real money. Engineering quality, security and reliability are fundamental to everything we build.
The role
We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Lead who can bring structure to ambiguity, unblock the team and take complete ownership of engineering outcomes.
You will write and review code, make architecture decisions, investigate production problems and ensure important work reaches users reliably.
This is a player-coach role. You will lead the engineering team while remaining deeply involved in building the product. It is not a management-only position.
What you will own
- Set the technical direction across our mobile app, backend, infrastructure and partner integrations.
- Translate product goals into clear engineering priorities and delivery milestones.
- Write code, review pull requests and personally investigate difficult production issues.
- Improve release speed without compromising security or reliability.
- Establish stronger testing, monitoring, incident response and deployment systems.
- Own technical delivery across wallets, payments, cards, identity and financial partner integrations.
- Set clear engineering standards and hold the team accountable to them.
- Mentor engineers and designers, unblock execution and improve the quality of technical decisions.
- Understand unfamiliar systems, prototype solutions, review code and build internal tools and automations.
- Work closely with Product, Design and Operations to take features from ideas and issues to production.
- Help us identify and hire exceptional engineers as the team grows.
What we are looking for
- Strong experience building and operating production software.
- Experience leading a small engineering team while remaining hands-on.
- Deep technical ability in at least one area, with the range to work across mobile, backend and infrastructure.
- Sound judgement around architecture, security, reliability and engineering trade-offs.
- A history of taking unclear problems from investigation through to a shipped solution.
- The ability to diagnose and remove blockers without waiting for detailed instructions.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including explaining technical decisions to non-technical teammates.
- Willingness to personally investigate problems when the system or team is stuck.
Experience with fintech, payments, crypto, wallets or other high-reliability systems is valuable, but not mandatory.
Our engineering environment includes:
- Flutter mobile application
- React website
- Solana and EVM smart contracts.
- Card, payment and identity partners
- Internal operational tools and automations
You do not need prior experience with every part of the stack, but you must be capable of learning unfamiliar systems quickly.
How we work
Avici is an early-stage, high-intensity company. We work Monday to Saturday at our offline HQ and expect exceptional urgency, resilience and personal ownership.
This role suits someone who:
- Moves from an unclear problem to a working solution without waiting for detailed instructions.
- Investigates and removes blockers independently.
- Takes responsibility from architecture through deployment and production performance.
- Uses Codex to build faster, automate repetitive work and improve the team’s systems.
- Steps outside their formal remit when something important needs to ship.
- Communicates problems early and arrives with possible solutions.
- Maintains quality and sound judgement while moving quickly.
This role will not suit someone looking for a five-day week, a predictable pace or a management-only position.
What success looks like in the first 90 days
- You understand the architecture, critical systems and major technical risks.
- Engineering ownership and priorities are clear.
- Releases become more predictable and reliable.
- Testing, monitoring and incident response improve materially.
- Engineers receive useful technical direction and faster reviews.
- Recurring operational work is reduced through Codex-built tools and automations.
- You personally help ship at least one major product improvement to users.
- Critical production issues decrease in frequency and resolution time.
