As the AWS and distributed systems expert on the engineering and trading team, you will design interactions between Sixtant’s trading servers and supporting Clojure services (chiefly trade reconciliation and real-time market data streaming).

Every member of the engineering and trading team works at all levels of the trading stack, but brings a particular skill set to help the team in some core area. Everyone has the opportunity to work on a variety of improvements to the trading platform and supporting infrastructure — including the implementation of order execution and trading logic — and see their efforts directly impact trading. Bonuses are uncapped and in proportion to the firm’s trading performance.

Since 2020, Sixtant has been a fully remote company and now has team members across the Americas and Europe.

What you will work on

Crypto Markets Are Dynamic, And We Act Quickly To Take Advantage Of New Opportunities. It Is Often Not Possible To Know In Advance What That Will Entail, But You Will Likely Find Yourself Working On Some Of The Following Projects

• A distributed data streaming platform, written in Clojure, exposing a WebSocket API for internal clients to consume market data feeds, and the architecture / approach to message passing needed to make it work with 100k msgs / second.
• Improving the logging and monitoring systems for Sixtant’s trading servers.
• A trade reconciliation service, written in Clojure, which accepts information from each trading server and audits trades, computes pnl, and monitors system health.
• A service for stateful market signals (e.g. 10-minute volatility, 1-hour average spread between two markets), and the architecture to propagate such signals to trading strategies that use them as inputs.

This position involves spending a significant portion amount of time both writing code and interacting with market structure and trade execution. You should be equally comfortable taking ownership of long-term projects as quickly shipping one-off solutions, and expect to do both.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Clojure.
• You have designed, built, scaled, and monitored production services, including client-server applications and APIs.
• Understanding of distributed message queues such as RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, and ZeroMQ.
• A strong understanding of distributed systems architecture … without being an architecture astronaut.

Experience with crypto, trading and market structure is a plus, but not required.
