About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Finance to lead our finance, accounting, reporting, and compliance functions. This is a senior leadership role for someone who is both strategic and hands-on, with the ability to operate in a fast-moving startup environment while maintaining strong financial discipline, audit readiness, and operational excellence.

This is not a traditional 9-to-5 role. While the team primarily works during standard business hours, we operate with a startup mindset and work with international partners, clients, and vendors. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with occasional flexibility outside normal business hours to support global time zone overlap, urgent finance matters, audit deadlines, and executive priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash management functions.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Manage external audits and act as the primary point of contact for auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with PCAOB audit standards, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Build, improve, and maintain scalable finance policies, processes, and systems.
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, financial analysis, and company decision-making.
  • Support board reporting, investor reporting, and executive-level financial presentations.
  • Manage tax compliance and coordination with external tax advisors.
  • Work cross-functionally with legal, HR, operations, partnerships, and leadership teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, reporting accuracy, financial controls, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Active CPA certification required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • Strong experience with PCAOB audits and audit readiness.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Prior experience managing external auditors and audit processes.
  • Experience leading accounting and finance teams.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial modeling experience.
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Comfortable working with international teams, clients, vendors, or partners across multiple time zones.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with executive leadership.
  • Ability to work hybrid in-office when needed (2–3 days per week)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big Four, national accounting firm, or public company audit experience.
  • Experience in technology, SaaS, fintech, blockchain, digital assets, or high-growth startup environments.
  • Experience with board reporting, investor reporting, fundraising support, or strategic finance.
  • Experience implementing or improving ERP, accounting, or financial reporting systems.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary range of $175,000–$225,000
  • Hybrid work environment
  • Opportunity to lead and shape the finance function of a growing company
  • Direct collaboration with executive leadership
  • Fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Meaningful ownership and impact in a senior leadership role
