Director of Risk

Position Overview

Our client, a proprietary technology trading firm, is searching for a Head of Market Risk to lead its global risk function. Based in South Florida with flexible remote and hybrid options, this role serves as the firm's senior authority on exposure management, hedging strategy, liquidity optimization, and risk analytics.

You'll own market risk across FX, futures, cryptocurrencies, and equities in a leveraged retail trading environment. That means monitoring firm-wide exposures in real time, designing dynamic hedging strategies, making the internalization-versus-externalization calls, and building the stress testing and scenario frameworks that keep tail risk in check.

This is a builder's seat as much as a leadership one. You'll partner with engineering and product teams to design institutional-grade risk systems: real-time dashboards, exposure engines, automated controls, and alerting infrastructure that scales with new products and asset classes. You'll also lead and grow a team of six across market risk, exposure management, and liquidity operations.

The right candidate brings 10+ years in market risk from an electronic brokerage, prime broker, FCM, exchange, market maker, or prop trading firm, with direct experience managing risk for leveraged retail trading businesses. Deep knowledge of market microstructure, hedging programs at scale, and real-time risk technology is essential. Python, SQL, or R skills are a strong plus.
