ELS is hiring for the position of Administrator - IT Security in Chicago, Illinois.

What you'll do:

The IT Security Administrator manages desktop, mobile and network security. This position performs risk assessments, audits machines and their software, trains staff on proper protocols and monitors network traffic for any suspicious activity. This position also updates software with respect to the latest security patches and ensures that each network resource has the required defenses, including those against zero-day malware.

Your job will include:

  • Identify threats and works to create steps to defend against them.
  • Perform vulnerability and penetration tests across all network segments.
  • Monitor network traffic for suspicious behavior.
  • Configure security systems, including firewalls, antivirus and IDS/IPS software.
  • Create and implement network policies and authorization roles for file access.
  • Analyze security requirements and suggest improvements.
  • Define disaster recovery plans.
  • Consult with staff, managers and executives with respect to the best security practices.

Experience & skills you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong understanding of common protocols, including TCP, UDP, IPSec, HTTP, SSL and DNS.
  • Strong understanding of router and firewall configurations.
  • Knowledge of checkpoint systems (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, etc.) and packet sniffers and analyzers, including Wireshark.
  • Experience with the configuration and utilization of monitoring and security software (e.g., IDS and IPS), switching and router protocols (e.g., SNMP) and operations systems. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion.

Estimated compensation for this position in the states of BC, CA, CO, IL, MA, MD, MN, NJ, NY, VT and WA is:

Annual Salary: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00

The salary listed is an estimate and not guaranteed. A salary offer will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to the base pay and our benefits, some positions are eligible for bonuses, sales commissions, or incentive pay.
