Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to take full ownership of Kartini’s data ecosystem—covering architecture, pipelines, warehousing, governance, and business intelligence.

This role requires someone who can think end-to-end: from raw data ingestion to executive dashboards. You will play a critical role in structuring how data flows across systems, ensuring reliability at scale, and enabling real-time, actionable insights through BI platforms such as Metabase, Tableau, and others.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Architecture & Infrastructure
• Design and manage scalable data warehouse / data lake architecture
• Define and enforce data schemas, standards, and naming conventions
• Optimize database structures, indexing, partitioning, and query performance
• Architect multi-source data integration (WhatsApp, mobile apps, backend systems, APIs)

Data Engineering & Pipelines

• Build robust ETL/ELT pipelines for high-volume transactional data
• Enable real-time / near real-time data processing where required
• Implement data validation, cleansing, and transformation frameworks
• Manage batch and streaming data pipelines

Business Intelligence & Dashboards

• Lead development of dashboards using Metabase, Tableau, or similar BI tools
• Design executive dashboards for operational, commercial, and financial insights
• Build self-service data layers for internal teams and clients
• Ensure data accessibility, performance, and usability across stakeholders

Data Governance & Quality

• Establish strong data governance frameworks and access controls
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across systems
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging for pipelines
• Support audit readiness and data security compliance

Advanced Use Cases

• Support data structuring for fraud detection models (Receipt IR / Display IR)
• Enable analytics for promotion performance, consumer behavior, and retail execution
• Work with large-scale datasets across multi-country deployments
• Collaborate with the development team to design application databases, ensuring schemas support both transactional needs and downstream analytics.

Qualifications

Core Technical Skills

• 5+ years experience in Data Engineering or similar role
• Advanced SQL (complex joins, window functions, optimization)
• Strong experience with data warehouse design (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, or similar)
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools With Apache Glue
• Hands-on experience with Python (Pandas, PySpark) for data processing
• Experience with Apache Spark or distributed data processing frameworks is a strong advantage

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Experience working with AWS (S3, Redshift, Lambda, Glue) and/or GCP (BigQuery)
• Understanding of containerisation (Docker) and orchestration is a plus
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture (Kafka, Pub/Sub) is a plus

BI & Analytics

• Proven experience building dashboards in Metabase
• Strong understanding of data visualisation, storytelling, and business metrics
• Ability to translate business problems into structured analytical outputs

Data Modeling & Systems Thinking

• Strong understanding of data modeling (star schema, snowflake schema)
• Experience handling high-volume, high-velocity data environments
• Familiarity with API integrations and data ingestion strategies

Mindset & Ownership

• Strong ownership and ability to lead the entire data function
• Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and structured thinker
• Able to operate in a fast-paced, scaling environment
• Strong communication skills to bridge technical and business teams

Additional Requirements

• Immediately available candidates are highly preferred
• Comfortable working full Work From Office (WFO) - South Jakarta
• Comfortable in a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) environment
• Willing to conduct occasional business trips especially to Bandung (Development Office)
• Certain long working hours are required compensated with replaceable day off

Compensation

• Base salary starting from IDR 12,000,000/month (slightly negotiable based on experience)
