Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Salary: Up to £70,000
We're looking for a Data Engineer to join a growing technology team delivering modern data solutions for a range of high-profile clients. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale data platforms, helping to build reliable, scalable pipelines that power analytics, AI and business-critical applications.
The Role
You'll design, build and maintain modern data solutions, working alongside engineering, analytics and AI teams to deliver high-quality data products. You'll have the opportunity to work with cloud technologies, streaming platforms and modern engineering practices while developing your technical skills in a collaborative environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines.
- Build ETL/ELT and streaming data solutions.
- Integrate data from multiple sources using cloud technologies.
- Develop data solutions using Java or Python.
- Work with modern data platforms including Kafka, Spark or Flink.
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts and product teams to deliver robust data solutions.
- Follow engineering best practices including CI/CD, testing and version control.
- Contribute to code reviews and knowledge sharing across the team
What You'll Need:
- Commercial Data Engineering experience.
- Strong Java or Python development skills.
- Experience building ETL, ELT or streaming data pipelines.
- Experience with Kafka, Spark or Flink.
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD and Agile delivery.
- Understanding of distributed systems and data architecture.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
