As a Data Operations Specialist, you will monitor, manage, and support data processes across large-scale enterprise data ecosystems. Your focus will include Pipeline Monitoring, Incident Management, Data Quality Controls, Performance Improvement, and Technical Support for both business and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
📌 Data Pipeline Monitoring
- Monitor daily ETL/ELT pipelines using data integration tools (ODI, IBM DataStage, Informatica Power Center, Azure Data Factory, etc.)
- Manage job schedules and end-to-end workflows via orchestration tools (UC4, Airflow, etc.)
- Detect failures, bottlenecks, and performance abnormalities
📌 Incident Management & Issue Resolution
- Perform technical analysis for failed/slow/incomplete data loads
- Conduct root-cause analysis on source, target, mapping, and transformation issues
- Resolve operational-level issues or escalate to development teams when needed
📌 Data Quality & Validation
- Execute data profiling, reconciliation, and validation checks
- Ensure quality of data, support the automation of data quality rules
📌 Performance Optimization
- Identify performance bottlenecks in data flows
- Apply performance tuning techniques at database and ETL levels
- Work with data engineers to improve pipeline run times and resource usage
📌 Business & Technical Support
- Assist BI, reporting, and analytics teams with ad-hoc or operational data needs
- Validate critical data outputs (regulatory, financial, operational reports)
- Providing support and consultancy to development teams
What We Are Looking For
- Prior experience in Data Operations, ETL Development, Data Engineering, or BI Operations
- Strong SQL skills (Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL)
- Basic programming experience for scripting or automation
- Understanding of physical data modeling concepts (keys, indexes, partitions, relationships, surrogate keys, constraints, etc.)
- Knowledge of performance optimization and tuning techniques (SQL tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning, parallelism, ETL performance improvements, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with data integration tools (ODI, IBM DataStage, Informatica Power Center, Azure Data Factory, etc.)
- Experience with orchestration tools (UC4, Airflow, etc.)
- Comfortable working with both technical and business stakeholders
- Familiarity with DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in Banking, Insurance, Telco, or similar large enterprise data environments
