Data EngineerBuild the future of data, not just the pipelines.
Most data engineering roles are centred around moving data from A to B.
This isn't one of them.
We're working with one of the Nordics' most exciting technology businesses as they continue to invest heavily in their data platform, AI capabilities and engineering function. They're looking for a Data Engineer who enjoys building complete solutions - someone equally comfortable modelling data, building APIs, automating workflows and solving business problems with technology.
The data is already flowing. The challenge now is deciding what to build with it.
You'll join a small, highly collaborative team where you'll have genuine ownership over the direction of the platform. Rather than sitting behind tickets all day, you'll work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand problems, design scalable solutions and build the tools that allow the company to make smarter decisions every day.
If you've ever found yourself wanting to build more than pipelines, this is the role you've been looking for.
The Opportunity:The business has spent the last few years modernising its data platform, creating a cloud-native data warehouse and establishing strong engineering foundations.
Now comes the exciting part.
The focus has shifted from simply collecting data to building intelligent services around it.
You'll help design scalable data models that become the foundation for reporting, analytics and AI initiatives. You'll build lightweight applications that allow business users to interact with data. You'll expose datasets through APIs, automate repetitive processes and help create the infrastructure that powers a growing number of AI-driven workflows.
Because the team is small, you'll see the direct impact of everything you build.
Ideas don't spend months in approval chains. Engineers are trusted to identify problems, propose solutions and own them from design through to production.
What you'll be working on:Your work will span far more than traditional data engineering.
You'll be involved in:Designing scalable, well-structured data models using SQL and dbtBuilding Python services that automate business processesCreating APIs that expose trusted data to internal applications and AI servicesDeveloping custom integrations where off-the-shelf tooling isn't enoughBuilding cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as CodeImproving data quality, testing and platform reliabilityWorking closely with commercial teams to understand how data can solve real business challengesHelping shape the next generation of AI-enabled products and internal tooling
The engineering philosophy is simple:
Solve business problems with technology.
Sometimes that's a data model.Sometimes it's an API.Sometimes it's a small application.
Whatever creates the most value.
What they're looking for:This role would suit someone who's naturally curious and enjoys solving problems. You're probably someone who starts with "What are we trying to achieve?" rather than "Which technology are we using?"
You'll bring:Strong Data Engineering FundamentalsExcellent SQL skillsStrong experience with dbtSolid Python development experienceExperience working with cloud data platformsAn understanding of modern data architecture and best practices
Broader Engineering ExperienceThe ideal person isn't purely a pipeline engineer. You've probably built some combination of:REST APIsInternal toolingAutomation servicesBackend applicationsInfrastructure with Terraform or similarData integrations
You don't need to be an expert software engineer. You simply enjoy building whatever is needed to solve the problem.
Mindset matters more than tools! The hiring manager is far more interested in engineers who can learn than people who've memorised a specific technology stack.
Whether you've worked with Google Cloud, Azure or AWS isn't particularly important. What matters is that you've worked in environments where you've had to think for yourself, adapt quickly and wear multiple hats. Experience in start-ups, scale-ups or fast-moving product businesses will be highly valued.
Likewise, engineers who understand both the technical and commercial side of data tend to thrive here.
If you've spent time working closely with stakeholders, translating business questions into technical solutions and making data genuinely useful, you'll fit right in.
Tech Stack:Current technologies include:PythonSQLdbtBigQueryGoogle Cloud PlatformDockerTerraformAirbyteExperience with every tool isn't expected.Strong engineering principles and a willingness to learn are far more important than matching every technology.
Why this role? This is an opportunity to join a company at exactly the right stage.
The foundations have been built.
Now the team is focused on creating a truly modern data platform - one that enables self-service analytics, intelligent automation and AI-driven products across the business
You'll join a highly visible team where your work is used daily by stakeholders throughout the organisation.
There are no endless approval processes. No rigid role boundaries. No spending months maintaining legacy pipelines.
Instead you'll work alongside ambitious engineers and business stakeholders who genuinely care about building great products and using data to drive better decisions.
It's the kind of environment where people who enjoy ownership, autonomy and variety do their best work.
