About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our innovative team dedicated to transforming healthcare data into valuable insights. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines that power our ifap DataServices. Your work will involve converting curated medication, prescription, and clinical reference data into reliable, up-to-date, and high-performance datasets for our SaaS products and strategic partners. You will collaborate closely with product management, AI engineers, and architects to develop data products that enable new AI-native features and integrations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong engineering mindset, with experience in automating data workflows, ensuring data quality, lineage, observability, and cost efficiency. Your contributions will directly impact the development of smarter healthcare solutions and support our mission to make health systems more effective and patient-centric.

Qualifications

  • Multiple years of senior experience in Data Engineering with Python, demonstrating a proven track record of operating productive data pipelines in regulated or mission-critical environments.
  • Completed degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field with excellent academic performance.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with modern data stack tools such as Airflow, dbt, Spark/PySpark, Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, preferably AWS, including Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), GitOps (ArgoCD), version control, testing, and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated effective use of AI in software and data engineering, ideally with Claude Code or similar agent-based tools, along with experience designing AI pipelines, harnesses, and context engineering.
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken, with strong problem-solving skills, innovative mindset, proactive attitude, and a sense of entrepreneurial responsibility aligned with healthcare safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and operate data pipelines that drive the ifap DataServices, transforming curated reference data into reliable datasets for SaaS products and partners.
  • Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT workflows using Python with FastAPI services, Apache Spark, and Scala workloads, with a focus on data quality, lineage, observability, and cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, AI engineers, and architects to create data products supporting AI-native features and integrations.
  • Leverage AI tools such as Claude Code and AI-Agents to accelerate pipeline development, schema migrations, and data analysis, building reusable data engineering skills and workflows.
  • Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and strict schema management to ensure high reliability and clear ownership of data services.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, promoting best practices in data engineering and security.
