Azure Database Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Azure Database Engineer / Senior Data Engineer with 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, and managing enterprise-scale data platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Azure Database services, PostgreSQL, data engineering frameworks, backend API development, and modern cloud-based data architectures.

About the Role

The candidate will be responsible for building scalable data solutions, developing reliable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and supporting backend services for data driven applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize database solutions using Azure Database services and PostgreSQL.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data processing workflows.
• Develop data transformation frameworks using dbt and orchestration workflows using Dagster.
• Implement and maintain Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).
• Develop backend services using FastAPI and build scalable REST APIs.
• Design and implement asynchronous API endpoints for high-performance applications.
• Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and data validation.
• Ensure data quality, governance, reliability, and availability across enterprise data products.
• Collaborate with data scientists, application developers, and business stakeholders.
• Support cloud-based data solutions and follow best practices for security and scalability.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, architecture discussions, and technical reviews.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Engineering, Backend Development, or related roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure database technologies and PostgreSQL.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of modern data architecture patterns, including Medallion Architecture.
• Experience developing production-grade APIs using FastAPI and REST frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in database optimization and data validation.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
