Job Overview
The Lead Enterprise Data Engineer designs and maintains scalable data architecture to support Macy’s analytics initiatives. This role ensures high-quality, secure, and efficient data pipelines that enable strategic decision-making and customer-centric innovation across the enterprise.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and processing systems for priority analytics use cases
- Collaborate with Technology and Data Science teams to integrate machine learning models and optimize data workflows
- Implement data models, standards, and quality rules in partnership with Data Architects
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations in coordination with Legal and Privacy teams
- Support business users with curated data sets and user-friendly tools for data access
- Promote a data-driven culture and increase digital IQ across business units
- Monitor and improve database structures and ETL processes for performance and reliability
- Automate data cleansing and harmonization processes in refined/trusted zones
Data Architecture: Implements foundational ETL processes and collaborates on enterprise-wide data models.
Technical Communication: Translates complex technical concepts for diverse audiences across the organization.
Project Ownership: Manages multiple initiatives with clear prioritization and accountability.
Strategic Thinking: Aligns data solutions with business goals and future-proofing needs.
Compliance Awareness: Ensures adherence to legal and privacy standards in data handling.
Who You Are
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
- Brings 5+ years of experience, including 3+ years in relevant technologies and enterprise environments
- Demonstrates proficiency in production-level coding and distributed computing
- Familiar with data modeling, architecture, and security best practices
- Communicates effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
