Data Engineer

One of the companies we partner with at Joppy is looking to hire a Senior Data Engineer to architect, build, and own a mission-critical data infrastructure from the ground up. This is a greenfield opportunity for someone deeply AI-native who understands that exceptional data foundations unlock the next phase of AI-driven growth.

🎯 Responsibilities

1. Design end-to-end data architecture, from raw data ingestion to clean, analytics-ready models
2. Build robust data pipelines to ingest information from multiple systems, including product, CRM, finance, marketing, and AI event traces
3. Model core data entities to provide a consistent source of truth for all teams
4. Establish and maintain data quality, monitoring, testing, and alerting for trust in data outputs
5. Develop the foundational data layer needed for scalable, reliable AI initiatives
6. Instrument product usage analytics, including events, funnels, and retention metrics
7. Create dashboards and data sets that drive decision-making across Sales, CX, Finance, and Marketing

🛠️ Requirements

1. 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment (exceptional candidates with less experience and proven end-to-end project ownership will be considered)
2. Experience building a data warehouse or data platform from scratch, or leading a large-scale migration
3. Proficiency in SQL and Python
4. Direct experience with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses
5. Comfort using AI tools in daily workflows, staying current with new models and techniques, and applying them to accelerate work
6. A strong product mindset, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and focus on business outcomes
7. Fluent in Spanish and comfortable communicating in English

➕ Nice to have

1. Experience in SaaS companies with complex, multi-team data needs
2. Hands-on experience with dbt, particularly projects with 50+ models in production
3. Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
4. Knowledge of event streaming using Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar technologies
5. Expertise in data quality frameworks and observability tools
6. Experience handling AI/LLM traces and usage data
