They are a large enterprise level organisation. My client is on the lookout for an experienced Data Engineer / Data Specialist to join a high-performing analytics and data team. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data products and pipelines that support critical business functions, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organisation. You'll work closely with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and high-quality data solutions.

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/data pipelines that integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and deliver accurate datasets for reporting and analytics initiatives.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and data professionals to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability through testing and validation processes.
  • Optimise existing data products and pipelines for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Develop clean, well-documented, and reusable code aligned with established engineering and architectural standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support Agile delivery practices.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
  • Strong SQL development skills and hands-on experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development.
  • Experience with data modelling and transformation tools such as dbt.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Experience:
  • Experience building complex data models using SQL, Python, and/or DAX.
  • Experience presenting analytical insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience within the insurance or financial services sector would be advantageous.

Duration - Contract until July 2027

Location - Must be based either in Auckland/ Christchurch
