Systems & Security Engineer

I’m representing a world leading hedge fund looking to hire an exceptional engineer into a small team supporting its Founder and Family Office.

This is a highly varied role sitting at the intersection of systems engineering, cybersecurity, automation and white-glove technology within an exceptionally complex and highly customised technical environment.

We are not looking for a pure Software Engineer.

We want someone who builds and supports, an engineer who can write Python, C# or PowerShell to automate and improve systems, but who also enjoys being hands-on with technology, troubleshooting difficult problems and working directly with users.

You'll provide highly responsive technical support to senior principals while contributing to broader systems engineering and cybersecurity projects across the firm.

We're looking for:

• Up to 6 years' experience across systems, infrastructure, DevOps/SRE, technical services or security engineering
• A Computer Science or other technical degree
• Proficiency in Python, C# and/or PowerShell
• Strong Windows and/or UNIX systems knowledge
• Experience working in complex, highly customised infrastructure environments
• Hands-on user support experience alongside scripting, automation or engineering
• Cybersecurity exposure, particularly threat detection, vulnerability management, endpoint protection or security monitoring
• Exceptional problem-solving ability and genuine intellectual curiosity
• The ability to tackle large, ambiguous technical challenges without always having a predefined playbook
• Polished communication skills and the discretion to work directly with highly senior stakeholders

Experience using generative AI to accelerate development, automation or technical workflows is also highly valued.

This role will suit someone already operating in a high-performance, technically demanding environment who wants exceptional breadth across systems, security, automation and technology.

You don't need to know everything.

But you do need to be someone who is curious enough to figure things out, technically strong enough to build solutions, and people-focused enough to deliver an exceptional experience.
