Onsite IT Server & Network Hardware Support Technician
Location: Leixlip, Co. Kildare (100% Onsite – Data Centre Environment)
Contract: 12 months (potential opportunity to convert to permanent – timeline TBC)
Start Date: ASAP / TBC
Rate: Up to €20 per hour (total hourly rate)
We are currently recruiting experienced Onsite IT Server & Network Hardware Support Technicians to join a specialist team supporting a large-scale enterprise data centre environment in Leixlip, Ireland.
This is a hands-on infrastructure support role ideal for someone with previous data centre, server support, or hardware break/fix experience who enjoys working with enterprise technology in a structured operational environment.
You will provide essential onsite support across server, storage, and network infrastructure, working alongside engineering teams to maintain high levels of availability and performance.
Working Hours
- Monday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Tuesday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Wednesday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Total working hours: 39 hours per week (including daily breaks)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on server and hardware support within a data centre environment
- Install, replace, move, and maintain server and network equipment
- Carry out rack and stack activities across server and storage platforms
- Support hardware break/fix activities including component replacement
- Install and support structured cabling (copper, fibre, AOC)
- Support network hardware including switches, optics, and power components
- Assist with server lifecycle activities (IMAC – Install, Move, Add, Change)
- Support Windows Server and Linux environments
- Assist with storage infrastructure activities
- Maintain accurate asset records and equipment tracking
- Support remote engineering teams with onsite troubleshooting
- Assist with vendor maintenance visits and hardware replacement activities
Essential Experience & Skills
Candidates must have previous experience supporting IT infrastructure within a data centre, server room, or similar controlled environment.
Essential:
- Experience working as a Data Centre Technician, Server Support Engineer, Infrastructure Technician, or similar
- Hands-on experience with server hardware support and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware
- Experience with rack & stack, hardware installation, and component replacement
- Understanding of networking fundamentals
- Experience with structured cabling (fibre/copper)
- Familiarity with Windows Server and/or Linux environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical processes
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Comfortable with physical hardware work, including lifting and moving equipment
Desirable Experience
- Enterprise storage experience (e.g. NetApp or similar platforms)
- Exposure to scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- IT hardware certifications or vendor qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or cloud data centre environments
