Job Description:
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced **Control-M & Unix/Linux System Engineer** to join our team.
- The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in workload automation using Control-M, system administration in Linux/Unix environments, and scripting (preferably Korn Shell). Additionally, the candidate should possess solid experience in SQL and Oracle database development.
- This role requires a proactive individual capable of managing enterprise batch processing environments, automating workflows, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring high availability and performance of applications and infrastructure.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Manage, monitor, and maintain enterprise job scheduling using *Control-M * Design, implement, and optimize batch workflows and job scheduling processes * Perform **Linux/Unix system administration** including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
* Develop and maintain automation scripts using *Korn Shell (KSH)* and other shell scripting languages.
* Troubleshoot job failures, system issues, and performance bottlenecks across environments.
* Collaborate with application, database, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth job execution.
* Perform **SQL development** including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning .
* Work with **Oracle databases** for data validation, job dependencies, and troubleshooting.
* Ensure system security, compliance, and adherence to operational best practices.
* Provide production support, including incident management and root cause analysis (RCA).
* Maintain documentation for workflows, scripts, and system configurations.
* Participate in on-call support and handle critical production issues.
Primary and Secondary Skill Set,*Primary Skills * Strong hands-on experience with *Control-M (Workload Automation).
* Expertise in *Linux and Unix system administration.
* Strong scripting experience in *Korn Shell (KSH)* (or equivalent shell scripting).
* Proficiency in *SQL development* Experience working with *Oracle databases.
* Good understanding of batch processing, scheduling concepts, and job dependencies.
*Secondary Skills:
(Good to Have) * Experience with other scripting languages (Python, Bash).
* Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management).
* Familiarity with monitoring tools and automation frameworks.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
* Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) is an advantage.
* Understanding of file transfer mechanisms (SFTP, FTP, etc.)
Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory) * Control-M Certification (BMC Certified Professional – Control-M).
* Linux Certification (RHCSA / RHCE or equivalent).
* Oracle Database Certification (Oracle Certified Associate/Professional).
* ITIL Foundation Certification * Any DevOps-related certifications (optional)
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
* 8+ years of relevant experience in Control-M, Unix/Linux, and database environments.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-critical environment
