Cloud Engineer

Our client is an established Brisbane extremely well-funded mature start-up with a modern, security-conscious technology environment. Having recently completed a major cloud program, they're now investing in permanent in-house engineering capability and that's where you come in.

This is a true hands-on multi-cloud role. You won't be one of fifty engineers; you'll be a trusted owner of the AWS and Azure estate, with real influence over how the platforms evolve.

What your days will look like

• Running and improving production AWS and Azure environments end to end compute, storage, networking, identity and security
• Automating everything you can: infrastructure as code, configuration management and scripting to replace manual work with repeatable patterns
• Strengthening security posture finding and fixing vulnerabilities and aligning controls with recognised frameworks (ACSC Essential Eight, CIS)
• Building out monitoring, logging and alerting so issues are caught before users notice
• Progressively bringing work in-house that's currently done by external providers, growing the team's own capability
• Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices

What you'll bring

• 5+ years in cloud, platform or infrastructure engineering, with solid production experience in AWS and/or Azure
• Confident Windows and Linux administration
• Strong scripting and IaC skills e.g. Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python
• A security mindset: IAM, RBAC, least privilege, vulnerability remediation
• Experience with enterprise monitoring/observability tooling and structured change management (ITIL or similar)
• A degree in IT/Computer Science (or equivalent experience); cloud certifications well regarded
