How you’ll LEAD:
We are currently seeking an eager and collaborative DevOps Engineer / Platform Engineer to join our Architecture & Engineering organization. This role will contribute to the Engineering Excellence Initiative, an enterprise program focused on improving software delivery, cloud platform capabilities, security, architecture standards, and developer productivity. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem and a strong interest in modern DevOps and platform engineering practices.
How you’ll CREATE:
Working as part of a cross-functional team, this position will help design, implement, automate, and support cloud-native solutions with a primary focus on GCP technologies, including GKE, Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, IAM, networking, and infrastructure automation. The role will also work with GitHub and GitHub Actions to support repository governance, CI/CD modernization, SDLC improvements, and secure software delivery practices across the organization.
Responsibilities include supporting cloud platform operations, implementing infrastructure-as-code solutions, integrating security and compliance controls into development workflows, assisting with vulnerability remediation efforts, and helping application teams adopt engineering best practices. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Architecture, Security, Platform Engineering, and Development teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure solutions while contributing to the ongoing maturity of UMG’s cloud and software engineering capabilities.
Bring your VIBE:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or related software infrastructure roles.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as GKE, Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, IAM, Cloud Storage, and networking.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or comparable automation tools.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and cloud automation best practices.
- Experience working with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes (GKE preferred).
- Proficiency with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and operational tooling.
- Experience implementing cloud security best practices, including IAM, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and integrating security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using Git version control and collaborating within Agile software development environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across Architecture, Security, Platform Engineering, and Application Development teams.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale Google Cloud Platform environments.
- Experience administering GitHub Enterprise, including repository governance, GitHub Actions runners, and organization policies.
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring and observability tools such as Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Experience supporting developer enablement initiatives and improving software delivery through automation and platform engineering practices.
- Google Cloud Professional certifications (Cloud Engineer, Cloud Architect, or DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
