IT Automation Engineer (Bangalore Office)
Indexed description
Key Responsibilities
AUTOMATION DESIGN & IMPLEMENTATION
- Design, build, and deploy automation scripts and workflows across IT service and operations processes
- Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone tasks and convert them into reliable automated solutions
- Implement automation across ticketing systems, monitoring tools, provisioning workflows, and internal tooling
- Hands-on experience administering Windows and/or Linux environments
- Develop and maintain production-grade scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar)
- Troubleshoot, debug, and harden automations running across mixed OS environments
- Use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate code generation and speed up automation development
- Maintain full command of the underlying code and logic — able to read, validate, debug, and modify AI-generated code independently
- Treat AI as a productivity and speed multiplier, not a substitute for engineering understanding; this role requires an engineer who happens to use AI well, not an AI prompt operator
- Build integrations between internal platforms (PSA/RMM, ticketing, monitoring, cloud services) using APIs and webhooks
- Work with REST APIs and scripting interfaces to connect disparate systems into cohesive workflows
- Test automations thoroughly before production deployment, including error handling and logging
- Monitor deployed automations for performance, failures, and drift; proactively remediate issues
- Build automations to be maintainable, not just functional
- Document automation architecture, logic, dependencies, and failure modes
- Maintain knowledge base content covering tools, scripts, and workflows built and supported
- Partner with service desk, engineering, and leadership to identify high-value automation opportunities
- Clearly communicate technical concepts, tradeoffs, and limitations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Hands-on experience implementing and deploying automation solutions in real production environments
- Solid background administering Windows and/or Linux systems
- Proficiency in scripting/programming (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar)
- Practical experience using AI coding tools to generate and accelerate code, paired with the ability to independently read, understand, debug, and modify that code
- Working understanding of APIs, webhooks, and system integration concepts
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across operating systems
- Proven ability to translate manual, repetitive processes into reliable, maintainable automation
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ticket-driven MSP environment with shifting priorities
- Owns automation design, development, and deployment — not ticket coordination or process enforcement
- Uses AI as a force multiplier for engineering speed and output, never as a replacement for technical understanding or code ownership
- Acts as a hands-on technical resource focused on eliminating manual work and increasing operational efficiency across the organization
