Today, a desert resort city, snowbird destination, and prominent retirement location enthralled me with its striking visual significance when I first visited in 2015. Along the shore, motels resplendent with fake palm trees, bright neon signs, vibrant facades, and space-age designs evoke nostalgia and the realization of the aggressive gentrification and the slow vanishing of old America. Growing up in Europe, we were both - separately (one from Slovenia and the other from France) influenced by American culture. These places remind us of nostalgic moments that we never lived through but experienced in our deepest dreams. America is full of changes and at the same time attached to its strong iconicity from the past.
