Product Engineer (Backend)

Job Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services with an emphasis on writing clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with product managers and fellow engineers to build and enhance product features.
• Take ownership of assigned features or components, including development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Help ensure the performance, scalability, and security of the platform under guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
• Stay updated on industry trends, especially related to e-grocery, cloud technologies, and backend development.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–4 years of professional experience in backend development, ideally in startups or fast-paced environments.
• Proficiency in backend technologies (Go) and backend development principles.
• Familiar with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Familiar with Redis for caching or session management.
• Familiar with message queues such as PubSub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Comfortable working with RESTful APIs and gRPC.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, asynchronous jobs, event-driven architecture, and agile methodologies.
• Experience with automation testing tools is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Having exposure to Operations (supply chain and fulfillment systems) and/or Commercial (search, checkout, payments, and growth systems) within an e-commerce ecosystem.
• Experience or interest in e-grocery, e-commerce, or retail industries.
• Experience working on scaling customer-facing applications.
