About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Software Engineer II to join our dynamic team in Portland, OR, or Salt Lake City, UT. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting software solutions of moderate to high complexity. You will work independently on well-defined problems, collaborate effectively with stakeholders and team members, and contribute to the selection and enhancement of technologies used across the organization. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum of two years of experience in business software application design, development, and implementation.
• Experience working in environments with scope, size, and complexity comparable to our organization.
• Foundational experience in building software across frontend, backend, or RESTful APIs.
• Strong consultative and business analysis skills, including effective communication and interpersonal abilities to understand client needs and define requirements.
• Solid understanding of core computer science concepts such as data structures, object-oriented design, algorithms, and time complexity.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
• Familiarity with modern development tools, frameworks, and workflows.
• Knowledge of industry architectural patterns and software design patterns.
• Ability to operate effectively in a zero-code-ownership environment, where source files can be modified by team members at any time.
• Understanding of deployment topologies, ensuring secure and highly available systems.

• Engineering - Consistently produce reliable, maintainable, and well-tested code. Make sound design decisions within defined problem spaces and contribute actively to documentation and understanding of solutions.
• Execution & Impact - Complete moderately complex or ambiguous tasks within expected timelines and scope. Communicate progress, risks, and blockers proactively. Handle on-call responsibilities and see issues through to resolution. Take initiative within broader or less-defined scopes and own features or components.
• Collaboration - Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and team ceremonies such as sprint planning and standups. Support and unblock fellow engineers when possible, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Growth and Learning - Expand technical expertise and develop areas of ownership. Tackle more complex and less-defined work over time, applying feedback to demonstrate measurable improvements and continuous professional development.
