About the Role:

As a Developer II, you’ll help bring Curtin’s digital ideas to life — building smart, reliable solutions that support the way our students, staff, and community connect, learn, and work. From design and development through to testing and documentation, you’ll play a hands-on role across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with product owners, UX designers, architects, testers, and stakeholders to deliver technology that makes an impact.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, build, test, and document high-quality software solutions and enhancements that support Curtin’s digital platforms.
  • Work collaboratively through agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and continuous delivery discussions.
  • Contribute to code reviews and help shape clear, practical technical standards across the team.
  • Provide expert Level 3 support to keep Curtin’s systems, applications, and platforms running smoothly.
  • Support and mentor junior developers, sharing knowledge and strengthening capability across the team.
  • Explore emerging technologies and champion fresh ideas that drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver solutions that meet accessibility, quality, and performance expectations from concept through to release.

Who we are looking for (Selection Criteria):

We’re looking for a curious, solutions-focused developer who enjoys creating modern, reliable, and scalable applications — someone who brings strong technical capability, a collaborative mindset, and the confidence to keep learning as technologies evolve.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Node, Typescript, AWS Cloud, including practical expertise across the following services:
    • o AWS CDK Typescript
    • o Lambda
    • o API Gateway
    • o SNS/SQS
    • o ECS
    • o DynamoDB
    • o S3
    • o CloudWatch
  • Proven experience contributing to agile software development environments.
  • A flexible, growth-focused approach, with the ability to quickly embrace new technologies, tools, and ways of working.
  • A collaborative and supportive style, with experience mentoring, guiding, or uplifting peers.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including internal clients and product owners, and translate technical findings, risks, and solutions into clear, actionable language.
Desirable:

  • Experience with cloud-based platforms, Oracle PL/SQL, Statistical Analysis System (SAS) Data Integration Studio, test automation, and CI/CD pipelines.

Role Requirements:

  • As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
  • Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction
