The Manufacturing & Industrialization Engineer is responsible for the industrialization of Enclosures products (especially the BET Enclosures platform) from product development through full-scale production. The role serves as the manufacturing representative within the New Product Development and is accountable for designing, validating, and implementing manufacturing processes that ensure safety, quality, cost competitiveness, and scalability.
Working closely with Product Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and equipment suppliers, the engineer translates product designs into robust manufacturing solutions. The position leads the development of sheet metal fabrication processes, defines manufacturing concepts, specifies equipment and tooling requirements, and supports the successful launch of new products into production.
The role is a key contributor to the expansion and modernization of sheet metal manufacturing capabilities, including automation, digital manufacturing, and advanced fabrication technologie.
What you'll do:
New Product Industrialization
• Represent Manufacturing Engineering within development projects, support product development activities from concept through production launch.
• Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Cost (DFC) principles are incorporated into product designs, participate in design reviews and provide manufacturing input throughout the development process.
• Define manufacturing readiness requirements and industrialization plans for new products.
Manufacturing Process Design
• Design end-to-end manufacturing processes for sheet metal enclosure production.
• Define manufacturing flow, routings, work centers, process sequence, and production concepts.
• Develop manufacturing strategies for punching, laser cutting, bending, hardware insertion, welding, finishing, assembly, and packaging operations.
• Define tooling, fixtures, gauges, and manufacturing equipment requirements.
• Establish standard work and process documentation.
Industrialization and Implementation
• Lead industrialization activities from prototype builds through production ramp-up, coordinate pilot builds, process validation activities, and production readiness reviews.
• Develop and execute implementation plans for new manufacturing processes.
• Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment and tooling, ensure successful transfer from development to serial production.
Capacity and Technology Development
• Evaluate and recommend manufacturing technologies that improve productivity, quality, and flexibility.
• Support implementation of automation solutions, robotic systems, and advanced fabrication technologies.
• Participate in factory layout development and material flow optimization.
• Define future manufacturing capability requirements for BET Enclosures growth.
Manufacturing Readiness and Validation
• Develop Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) assessments and improvement plans.
• Lead process capability studies and manufacturing validation activities, support development of PFMEA, Control Plans, process flow diagrams, and work instructions.
• Define critical process parameters and quality controls, ensure manufacturing processes meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Product Engineering to ensure manufacturable product designs, collaborate with Quality Engineering on process qualification and control strategies.
• Support Supply Chain in sourcing and qualification of manufacturing suppliers and tooling providers, coordinate with Operations teams during production launch and ramp-up activities.
• Interface with machine builders, automation integrators, and external technology partners.
Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce product cost.
• Support productivity, quality, and throughput improvement initiatives.
• Drive lessons learned and best-practice deployment across industrialization projects.
• Contribute to the long-term manufacturing strategy for enclosure products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrialization, NPI, or Process Engineering.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting new product introduction and production launch activities.
- Experience designing and implementing manufacturing processes.
- Experience working in cross-functional product development environments
