WorldQuant is built on a culture that pairs academic sensibility with accountability for results. Employees are encouraged to think openly about problems, balancing intellectualism and practicality. Excellent ideas come from anyone, anywhere. Employees are encouraged to challenge conventional thinking and possess an attitude of continuous improvement.
Our goal is to hire the best and the brightest. We value intellectual horsepower first and foremost, and people who demonstrate an outstanding talent. There is no roadmap to future success, so we need people who can help us build it.
The Role
We are looking for a Junior Quant Developer to join the Portfolio Management Solutions team. This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong, early-career candidate who enjoys solving real problems and wants to make a direct and tangible impact on the business.
You will work alongside expert developers and portfolio managers, building systems, interfaces, and tools that support day-to-day portfolio management operations. We value clear thinking, strong fundamentals, and a proactive attitude over years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of systems, interfaces, and tools that support portfolio management workflows
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and developers to understand requirements and translate them into practical solutions
- Identify, investigate, and resolve issues in existing tools and infrastructure
- Monitor and support production systems, responding to incidents and ensuring reliability
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, and technical documentation
- Continuously improve team productivity by maximising modern development tools and practices
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Solid practical experience in Python and/or C++
- Good working knowledge of Bash scripting and Linux environments
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Strong analytical and logical thinking — you approach problems methodically and do not give up easily
- Meticulous with a high standard for the quality of your own work
- Self-starter who takes ownership of problems and can work independently without constant direction
- Comfortable leading multiple tasks and making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and complex systems
- Effective and concise communicator in English, both written and verbal
- Good working knowledge of Claude or other LLM ecosystems — understanding how to apply them effectively across the full development workflow, from problem analysis and debugging to solution design and documentation
- Uses LLM tools with good judgment and critical thinking — not blind code generation, but as a genuine force multiplier for quality, speed, and clarity
- Able to bring this attitude to the broader team and contribute to raising overall productivity
- Direct exposure to real portfolio management systems and workflows
- A collaborative team where your contributions are visible and valued
- Opportunity to grow quickly in a technically demanding and intellectually stimulating environment
