What qualifications are needed?

• Professional experience building backend applications in Python
• Strong experience with a Python web framework (Django, Flask, or FastAPI) or building Python services/libraries more generally
• Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL
• Experience designing and consuming APIs
• Comfortable working with data manipulation libraries (e.g., pandas, polars) — able to read, filter, and reshape large datasets, including Parquet files, even though this isn't a modelling role
• Some exposure to time-series data and the practical challenges of working with large files (memory/performance considerations, chunking, lazy loading, etc.)

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Parquet, Arrow, or columnar data formats
• Experience with polars, Dask, DuckDB, or similar tools for working with large local datasets
• Experience designing internal Python libraries/SDKs used by other teams
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
