About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Software Engineer IV to join our Technology & Digital Innovation team. In this senior individual-contributor role, you will be instrumental in designing, modernizing, and maintaining mission-critical enterprise applications and data systems that power critical regional infrastructure.
As a Software Engineer IV, you will operate as a technical authority—bridging complex software architecture with operational needs. You will design scalable cloud and on-premise solutions, streamline high-volume data integrations, and lead technical execution to ensure unmatched reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Development: Architect, build, and deploy robust, high-availability software applications and microservices to support critical utility operations and enterprise workflows.
- System Integration: Lead complex API development and middleware integrations across legacy systems, cloud platforms, SCADA/IoT environments, and third-party enterprise tools.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior/mid-level engineers, enforcing high coding standards, code reviews, and architectural consistency.
- Reliability & Performance: Identify performance bottlenecks, enforce system security best practices, and implement automated monitoring/CI-CD pipelines to ensure 99.99%+ operational uptime.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Cybersecurity leads, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into seamless digital products.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in full-lifecycle software engineering, systems design, and cloud integration.
- Technical Stack Expertise:
- Strong proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or Go).
- In-depth experience with Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Demonstrated expertise with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB) and complex SQL querying.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Problem-Solving & Composure: Proven track record of evaluating legacy systems, driving modernization, and resolving complex technical issues under tight deadlines.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Prior experience in the Utilities, Energy, Smart Grid, Logistics, or Transportation industries.
- Experience integrating software with SCADA, GIS, Smart Metering (AMI), or OT (Operational Technology) systems.
- Background in infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible) and modern DevOps practices.
- Exposure to modern AI/ML tooling or process automation platforms to optimize operations.
