Senior tech lead

WafR is a growing fintech company dedicated to building robust, scalable financial solutions that processes 150k transactions a day. We are looking for a Senior Tech Lead to take ownership of our backend architecture, guide our engineering squads, and drive the technical execution of our core platforms.

As a Senior Tech Lead, you will act as the technical anchor for our engineering team. You will spend your time balancing hands-on coding with architectural design, mentoring developers, and ensuring our infrastructure can handle high-throughput, secure financial transactions. You will work closely with product and management to translate complex business requirements—such as ERP integrations and automated reconciliation—into resilient systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Design and scale secure, high-performance microservices and APIs within the Azure ecosystem.
• Hands-on Development: Write clean, maintainable, and highly tested code, setting the standard for the rest of the engineering team.
• System Integrity: Oversee database migrations, implement CQRS patterns where appropriate, and optimize data flows across our platform.
• Technical Mentorship: Conduct rigorous code reviews, mentor mid-level and junior engineers, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders to align technical strategy with business goals, ensuring smooth integrations with systems like Odoo or advanced analytics pipelines.
• Operational Excellence: Drive CI/CD improvements, monitor system health, and proactively manage technical debt.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or architectural role. Experience in fintech, banking, or payment gateways is highly preferred.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Strong experience designing and deploying solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Database Mastery: Extensive knowledge of relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and complex schema design.
• Architecture: Proven experience with microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and handling asynchronous data streams.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
