Job description / Your role:
As Space Lead Software Engineer at LEOspace, you will be responsible for the software development of our advanced electromechanical drive systems and mechanisms for space applications. You need a strong focus on real-time computing, embedded control, hardware-related software and system integration. You will contribute to current product developments, while helping shape the software foundation for future cybertronic product generations that combine actuators, electronics, sensing and intelligent control in highly integrated systems.
- Lead software development for actuator and mechanism products.
- Define software requirements, architecture, interfaces and subsystem integration in close collaboration with engineering teams.
- Support the development, tuning and validation of control algorithms for electric drives and motion systems.
- Maintain technical documentation, including requirements, ICDs and architecture descriptions.
- Shape future software architecture, including distributed computing, sensor fusion, and AI features
- University degree (or equivalent) in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
- Ability to develop embedded software for mechatronic or control systems using C/C++ and Python/scripting.
- Experience in developing software for hardware-related applications, ideally involving motor control or communication interfaces.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems.
- Proficiency in requirements engineering and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Background in the space sector, including familiarity with relevant industry standards.
- Experience with model-based development, simulation environments, and software-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Exposure to technical leadership or coordination roles.
