Role Purpose
The Principal Software Engineer serves as a technical expert and thought leader within the organization, driving the development of Verint's next generation compliance platform for the cloud. The purpose of this role is to lead the design and implementation of scalable, distributed microservices, guide technical decision-making, and influence the long-term strategy of the engineering organization. This role also involves providing mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers, contributing to the advancement of engineering standards, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and observability of cloud-native services.
We seek a Principal Software Engineer with deep expertise in backend service development, cloud-native architectures, and distributed systems, with hands-on experience delivering production-grade microservices in Go or Java on major cloud platforms.
This role is focused on:
- Designing and delivering backend microservices for Verint's cloud compliance platform
- Building observable, traceable, and CI/CD-automated services that integrate into Verint's cloud ecosystem
You will evolve architecture and ensure cloud services meet strict requirements for scalability, reliability, performance, and compliance-grade traceability.
Some of your responsibilities are:
- Design and deliver scalable, distributed backend microservices for Verint's next-generation compliance platform.
- Lead architecture and design reviews for cloud-native services.
- Ensure services are observable and traceable.
- Define and implement CI/CD pipeline standards (Harness or equivalent).
- Make critical technical decisions on service design, data flow, and system boundaries.
- Perform code and architectural reviews, setting the technical bar for the team.
- Apply agentic AI development practices — leveraging AI coding agents and LLM-assisted workflows as a standard part of the engineering process to accelerate design, implementation, and review.
- Lead architecture of the next-generation compliance platform microservices.
Essential:
- Proficient in Go or Java (both is a strong plus); experience building production microservices; RESTful and gRPC API design; Git, JIRA.
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred); container orchestration with Kubernetes or OpenShift; infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Significant of experience designing and programming large-scale applications deployed in clustered/cloud environments, with at least 3 years operating at Staff or Principal scope.
- Experience in regulated domains (financial services, telecommunications, or healthcare) with familiarity in compliance frameworks (e.g., MiFID II, Dodd-Frank, GDPR) is strongly preferred.
- Experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes-based container orchestration is a plus.
- Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems and data processing pipelines.
