About Nebul

At Nebul, we’re building Europe’s sovereign AI cloud — trusted, secure, and purpose-built for the next generation of intelligent infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Cloud Platform Backend Engineer, you’ll be a core contributor to Nebul’s hybrid cloud platform. Your primary focus will be designing and building backend services and APIs in Go that sit on top of Kubernetes and multiple cloud platforms.

You will work on the control plane that abstracts infrastructure complexity and exposes a clean, secure, and scalable API used by both internal teams and external clients. A lightweight frontend exists, but your impact is mainly in the backend, platform logic, and system architecture.

You’ll have significant autonomy in technical decisions and, over time, the opportunity to help grow and guide a small team as the platform scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs in Go for a Kubernetes-based hybrid cloud platform.
  • Build robust abstractions over underlying cloud platforms, enabling self-service and automation for users.
  • Define and evolve Nebul’s internal and external APIs with a strong focus on stability, security, and extensibility.
  • Integrate with Kubernetes control planes, cloud APIs, and hybrid-cloud management layers.
  • Implement authentication, authorization (RBAC), and tenant isolation for multi-tenant environments.
  • Ensure backend services are scalable, observable, and production-ready.
  • Embed logging, metrics, tracing, and usage tracking into all platform components.
  • Collaborate with product, security, and compliance teams to translate requirements into backend capabilities.
  • Take ownership of backend architecture and evolve it as the platform grows.
  • Mentor engineers and help shape backend engineering best practices as the team expands.

What Your Day Will Not Look Like

  • Building UI components or spending most of your time on frontend work.
  • Manually operating Kubernetes clusters or cloud infrastructure.
  • Working on isolated features without architectural impact.

What You Bring

  • Strong experience building backend systems and APIs in Go.
  • Proven background in cloud-native and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Solid understanding of cloud platform principles, as found in platforms such as OpenStack, Gcore, VMware, AWS, or Google Cloud (GCP).
  • Experience designing clean, versioned APIs and long-lived backend services.
  • Comfort working with authentication, authorization, and multi-tenancy concepts.
  • An ownership mindset and the ability to shape backend architecture and technical direction.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience building platforms, control planes, or developer platforms.
  • Familiarity with hybrid-cloud management platforms (e.g. Morpheus Data or similar).
  • Knowledge of policy engines (OPA), service catalogs, or infrastructure abstractions.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead.
  • Interest in platform reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
