Build the backbone of Europe's EV charging ecosystem.

At Optimile, we are building the future of e-mobility.

We are a leading software company specializing in digital solutions for the electric vehicle (EV) charging industry. Our platforms empower Charging Point Operators (CPOs) and Mobility Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver a seamless, reliable and scalable charging experience across Europe.

Every day, our software powers thousands of EV charging sessions across Europe. As we continue to grow internationally, we are looking for an experienced Backend Developer who combines technical excellence with a strong sense of ownership and enjoys helping others grow.

If you take pride in writing clean, scalable code, enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and want to have a real impact on both the product and your team, we'd love to meet you.

Your role

As a Backend Developer, you are a key technical contributor within your squad. You take ownership of your work from understanding a problem to delivering production-ready solutions that are thoroughly tested, maintainable and well documented.

You actively contribute to technical discussions, challenge assumptions where needed and help shape solutions that remain robust as our platform continues to grow.

Beyond your own work, you help raise the engineering bar. Through thoughtful code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing, you support the growth of your teammates and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

You'll work closely with your Tech Lead, Product Owner and fellow engineers in a cross-functional squad where collaboration, ownership and quality are at the heart of everything we build.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering & technical craft
  • Deliver high-quality software from analysis to production.
  • Write clean, maintainable and well-tested Python code.
  • Design solutions that are scalable, reliable and easy to extend.
  • Contribute actively to technical design discussions by proposing solutions, identifying risks and challenging assumptions where appropriate.
  • Monitor and support the software you build, taking ownership when issues arise.
  • Consistently uphold the team's engineering standards and Definition of Done.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify technical debt and propose improvements with clear context on impact, effort and priority.
  • Distinguish between acceptable technical compromises and debt that actively slows down the product.
  • Perform thoughtful code reviews that improve both code quality and team knowledge.
  • Apply and promote the Boy Scout Rule by leaving the codebase in a better state than you found it.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve engineering practices and maintainability.
  • Collaboration & Mentoring
  • Mentor fellow engineers through pairing, coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner to translate product requirements into sustainable technical solutions.
  • Participate actively in refinements, sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
  • Communicate progress, risks and blockers proactively.
  • Foster a collaborative engineering culture where knowledge sharing and continuous learning are encouraged.

  • Solid experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations and query optimization
  • A strong interest in building scalable backend systems
