Qaytim AI is building the first ground-up retail intelligence platform for markets that global players like Nielsen and Kantar can't reach. In Uzbekistan, most stores have no POS system, so brands have no reliable way to know what's actually selling, where. We solve this by turning everyday consumers into a distributed data network: they photograph receipts through our Telegram app (@QaytimAIbot), our AI extracts SKU-level detail, and we turn that into district-level sales intelligence sold to brands and distributors.

We're backed by Startup Garage and building toward our seed round. Our product is live and collecting real data today — now we're growing the team to take it from a working MVP to a platform brands can rely on at scale.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're hiring our first engineering hire — a Senior Software Engineer (Backend/Fullstack) working directly alongside our CTO. This isn't a "pick up the ticket" role. You'll own the systems that make our entire business model trustworthy: the pipeline that turns receipt photos into structured SKU data, the fraud and data-quality layer that protects what we sell, and the infrastructure that takes us from our first hundred users to thousands.

You'll also become the second person who understands how the whole system works end to end — which matters more than it sounds. Right now that knowledge lives with one person.

We build fast, and we build with AI-assisted development (Claude Code and similar tools) as a core part of our daily workflow, not an afterthought. If you already work this way, you'll feel at home immediately.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Design and harden the pipeline that extracts product, price, and store data from receipt images

- Build fraud- and anomaly-detection logic to protect data quality as we scale — duplicate receipts, manipulated images, statistical outliers

- Design and ship the backend/API layer for our brand-facing analytics dashboard

- Take our infrastructure from ~100 users to thousands: queues, storage, monitoring, load handling

- Make real architecture decisions with the CTO, not just implement someone else's spec

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Strong backend fundamentals — API design, databases, data pipelines — from genuine production experience, not just tutorials or coursework

- Comfort owning a system end to end and working independently; you'll often be the only engineer on a given problem

- Fluency working with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as a daily driver

- Nice to have: experience with OCR/computer vision, fraud or anomaly detection, or messy real-world data matching

- Nice to have: early-stage startup experience, where the job description and the actual job diverge on day one

COMPENSATION & TERMS

$1,500-2000/month, based on experience, plus meaningful EQUITY. We're an early-stage startup — cash compensation reflects that stage, and equity reflects the upside. We're upfront about this so we spend everyone's time well.

LOCATION

Tashkent, Uzbekistan. On-site/hybrid — at this stage, close collaboration matters.
