Senior Backend Engineer - Remote - Latin America

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale a cutting-edge platform that combines cloud infrastructure, data intelligence, and artificial intelligence. You'll work on high-impact systems that process large volumes of data, integrate with leading AI technologies, and support mission-critical decision-making for enterprise customers. As part of a small, highly collaborative team, you'll have significant ownership over architecture, technical direction, and product outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, Express, Python, and FastAPI.
• Build and optimize backend systems, databases, and data processing workflows to support product and business needs.
• Develop and maintain integrations with AI platforms and Large Language Models (LLMs), including OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, and similar technologies.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to define technical solutions and deliver impactful features.
• Improve application performance, reliability, and scalability across a growing platform.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues while enhancing observability and monitoring capabilities.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the technical direction of the platform.
• Build and maintain cloud-native solutions leveraging Google Cloud services

Core Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering, using TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
• Strong experience building APIs and backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable, production-grade distributed systems.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud environments.
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and cloud-native services such as Functions, Jobs, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience troubleshooting production systems and implementing observability best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with DBT and modern data transformation workflows.
• Familiarity with Golang.
• Experience with Datadog or other observability and monitoring platforms.
• Exposure to frontend technologies such as React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
• Experience integrating and working with Large Language Models (LLMs) through SDKs and APIs.
• Experience building AI-powered products or features.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and modern analytics ecosystems.
• Previous experience in early-stage or high-growth startup environment
