Backend Engineer

Shield is a global startup with offices in TLV, NYC, LDN, and LIS. We're looking for someone who will join our team and make a big impact.

About The Role

You'll join a small, high-ownership backend team building the systems that power Shield's core platform, working mainly on data pipelines with a focus on the quality and structure of the data itself. What You'll Do

• Design and implement new flows and services
• Maintain, improve, and extend existing backend services and APIs
• Work with multiple data stores - relational, NoSQL, search (Elasticsearch, etc.)
• Maintain and build event-driven pipelines using message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
• Collaborate with product and architecture on scalable, resilient system design
• Integrate and leverage AI tools in your daily workflow - and ideally, build them

What we're looking for

• 3–5 years of backend engineering experience
• At least 1 year with Java; additional years in any backend language (Go, Python, C#, TypeScript, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with at least 2 data stores (e.g. MySQL/PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis)
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and at least one message broker
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• You use AI tools daily - and if you've built AI agents, even better
• Data engineering background is a plus, but not required
