Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join a strategic application modernization initiative focused on rewriting and migrating a critical enterprise platform. This role will be responsible for analyzing existing application functionality, redesigning services for scalability and performance, and developing cloud-ready, maintainable solutions.

Core Responsibilities

• Analyze existing Node.js applications, MongoDB collections, APIs, and business workflows to develop migration and modernization strategies.
• Design, develop, and implement scalable backend services and APIs using Golang.
• Translate document-based MongoDB data models into optimized relational schemas within PostgreSQL.
• Participate in application re-architecture efforts, including service decomposition, domain modeling, and modernization best practices.
• Develop data migration frameworks, ETL processes, and validation strategies to ensure data integrity throughout migration activities.
• Refactor or rewrite existing business logic while maintaining feature parity and improving performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Build and maintain RESTful and/or gRPC APIs to support application functionality and integrations.

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing backend applications.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience developing applications using Golang.
• Strong experience with Node.js application architecture and development.
• Proven experience designing and developing applications using PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience working with MongoDB data models, aggregation pipelines, and document-based database architectures.
• Experience participating in application modernization, migration, or large-scale refactoring initiatives.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design principles.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and best practices.

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience with AWS.
• Experience migrating and rewriting a codebase from Node to Golang.
• Experience writing UI and frontend code using React.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $120,000 and $135,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
