Indexed description

Space is a warfighting domain. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build the technology that secures it.

OUR MISSION

True Anomaly delivers decisive capabilities for space superiority. We build autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors — enabling the U.S. and its Allies to secure the space environment and counter threats from the ultimate high ground.

OUR VALUES

  • Be the offset. We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity.
  • What would it take? We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results.
  • It’s the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together.

YOUR MISSION

As a Supplier Quality Engineer at True Anomaly, you will play a vital role in ensuring the supplier base delivers flight-quality hardware to orbit. Reporting to the Manager of Supplier Development, you will own the quality systems and root cause processes that hold suppliers accountable across key technical domains, ensuring they meet True Anomaly's rigorous standards for quality, cost, and schedule. This role is ideal for a technically minded engineer who thrives at the intersection of engineering and supply chain — someone who can bridge the gap between our internal engineering teams and our supplier network, and who is passionate about driving data-driven decisions and scalable, resilient quality processes from the ground up.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process end to end — issuing SCARs, driving suppliers through structured root cause methodologies (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D), and verifying corrective action effectiveness before closure.
  • Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations on escapes and yield issues, refusing to accept 'operator error' as a final answer and pushing suppliers to systemic, process-level fixes.
  • Build and maintain supplier quality data and statistical trending — defect rates, PPM, Cp/Cpk, first-pass yield — to identify systemic issues before they become escapes.
  • Apply statistical process control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (Gage R&R) to evaluate whether a supplier's process is actually capable and in control, not just passing inspection.
  • Create and disposition non-conformance reports (NCRs); coordinate rework, repair, and use-as-is dispositions with design and program engineering.
  • Audit supplier quality management systems and process controls; identify gaps and drive corrective action plans to verified closure.
  • Review incoming and in-process inspection data to catch drift early, and flow findings back into SCAR and RCCA activity.
  • Own PPAP/FAIR review and approval for new or changed parts, ensuring statistical evidence supports production release.
  • Partner with Supplier Development Engineering on suppliers with chronic quality issues, providing the data and root cause findings that inform capability and capacity investment decisions.
  • Travel to supplier sites as needed to support audits, source inspection, and corrective action verification.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality or quality engineering, with a track record of driving RCCA and SCAR activity to closure, not just tracking it.
  • Strength in one or more of the following commodities: machining, sheet metal/fabrication, PCB/PCBA assembly, wire harness, or electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Working fluency in statistical quality tools — SPC, Cp/Cpk, Gage R&R/MSA, DOE — and comfort making decisions from data rather than gut feel.
  • Deep experience with structured root cause methodologies (5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D) and writing SCARs suppliers can actually act on.
  • Demonstrated ownership of NCR disposition, PPAP/FAIR review, and use-as-is/rework/scrap decisions.
  • Proficiency reading engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Clear, direct communication — you can hold suppliers accountable to the data while staying a genuine partner to their team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Preferred:

  • Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or formal training in statistical quality methods.
  • Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems and internal/supplier auditing.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience building supplier quality data systems or scorecards from scratch.

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: $85,000 - $130,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO, and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Additional Requirements

  • Work Location – We observe an in-person work environment, and expect 4 days per week in office at the Company's Long Beach, California location or Denver, Colorado.
  • Security Clearance – Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance required
