Role Summary

This senior software developer position supports mission-critical aviation programs. The role involves designing, building, and enhancing cloud-enabled applications to advance aviation operations and modernization efforts. The selected candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and program stakeholders, to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant solutions that impact air travel safety and efficiency. This on-site position offers an opportunity to contribute to national infrastructure with a focus on innovation, security, and system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical design activities and participate in architecture and design review sessions.
  • Develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade software applications supporting FAA programs.
  • Translate business and system requirements into maintainable, scalable code using modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#.
  • Conduct peer code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and stakeholders to meet application requirements.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and regression tests to validate system functionality and performance.
  • Support the integration of applications into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and system integration challenges.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including design artifacts, user guides, and compliance records.
  • Assist in system verification, validation, readiness reviews, and modernization initiatives to improve development processes and automation.

Qualifications

  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of software development experience, or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or an Associate’s degree with 7 years of experience, or a high school diploma/equivalent with 9 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages, including Java, Python, or C#.
  • Experience developing applications in cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and working within microservices architectures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with system performance optimization.
  • Excellent documentation skills and understanding of federal compliance standards.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $53.00 hourly

Location Requirements: This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
