Junior Back-end Engineer

Description

We are looking for a Junior Backend Engineer with a strong foundation in Python and an interest in building modern, data-intensive software systems. You may be a recent graduate with strong practical experience or have approximately 1–3 years of professional software development experience.You should be comfortable writing Python and have some experience building APIs using FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar frameworks. A basic understanding of RESTful APIs, databases, Git, and software development best practices is expected.You will work alongside experienced engineers on backend services, data pipelines, APIs, and cloud-based systems that process large volumes of retail data. You will have the opportunity to develop practical experience with technologies including cloud platforms, analytics databases, data orchestration tools, and AI-enabled development workflows.We value curiosity, ownership, a willingness to learn quickly, and the ability to solve problems collaboratively. You do not need to have experience with every technology in our stack, but you should have strong technical fundamentals and be motivated to grow into a highly capable backend engineer.

Krunchbox is a retail analytics platform used by global consumer brands to transform point-of-sale data into actionable insights. Our platform ingests and processes large volumes of retail data from retailers across North America and Australia, helping brands understand sales performance, optimize inventory, and make smarter supply chain decisions.We are modernizing our platform architecture and rebuilding core components with a focus on scalability, performance, and AI-driven insights. The Junior Backend Engineer will work alongside experienced engineers to help build the next generation of our data platform, contributing to backend services, APIs, data ingestion pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.

Functions

• Develop and maintain backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Help build and improve data ingestion and processing pipelines that power analytics for global consumer brands.
• Build and maintain API services that support the Krunchbox platform.
• Work with large datasets and help improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure and CI/CD workflows.
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers, product, and data teams to deliver new capabilities.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
• Contribute to engineering documentation and best practices.
• Use modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate learning, coding, debugging, and problem-solving.
